All of the members of The Couch Family live in Jackson, KY a small town in
the eastern part of the state. Even though their members have changed over the years, they still have the same goal.
It's to encourage and lift up people, using the word of God, through song and testimony.
They have pretty much kept it in the family. The original group that
began traveling and singing consisted of all six children of Elmer and Irene Couch: EB, Sandy, Bobby, Mike, Anita, and
John, as well as EB’s wife, Eunice.
"We can still remember the first time we sang as
a family outside of our home church. It was the fall of 1980, in
a little country church at Whick, KY. That night, an elderly man who had never prayed before gave his heart to the Lord and was saved". A couple of years ago we went back to sing for the same pastor and asked about the elderly
man. The pastor stated that he was still praying when he passed away a few years ago.
The
Couch Family have sung off and on since 1980, but
have sang consistently for about thirteen years now. With singing engagements in their
home town of Jackson, KY as well as had the privilige to sing regionally in such places as:
Middlesboro, Campbellsville, Corbin, Barbourville, Ashland, Somerset, Beattyville, Hyden, Corbin, Shepherdsville,
Williamsburg, Winchester, Versailles, Irvine, Danville, Richmond KY, and out of state in Kingsport TN & Jellico TN,
Austin IN, Wayne MI, Detroit MI, Charleston WV, Franklin OH, Chillicothe OH, Breaks VA and Abingdon VA.
Over the past thirteen years
or so The Couch Family has completed four projects: Give Me Faith, Apply the Blood, My Peace, and Under the Masters
Wings recorded @ Maggard Sound Studio. They have now finished their fifth project with David Castle Recording studio in Castlewood,
VA. This project has eight original songs and is out to radio in on Porchlite Groups compilation as well as Hope
Street Music's compilation. The group's members now, are the same ones who were part of the first Couch Family project.
